![]() Of course, we can understand how daunting it can be to explore the immense world of subwoofers. Even soundbars perform at their peak when accompanied by extra bass, which is why a majority of them are packaged with a wireless sub. This isn’t to say that you need to invest in the type of low-frequency woofer that’s going to have your neighbors calling the cops whenever you fire up your Zathura Blu-ray, but many home theater speakers sound their best when paired with some kind of bass box. ![]() Resistor is doing the trick.A surround sound system just isn’t complete without a subwoofer. I hope it goes away but if not, I guess the resistor I used didn't work (47Ohm 5 watt). Also maybe because I just pulled the battery but I just noticed my speaker light is on and the dash says "Audio System unavailable" even tho I'm blasting the stereo. Its still a touch heavy on the low bass side but l prefer it that way. I now have the mid at +3 and turned up the crossover and turned down the gain. I want to have a backup and my experiment with my stock one some more. If any of you guys want to sell a stock sub to me for cheap, let me know. ![]() My last bit of advice is, just cut the speaker wire after the connector (Between the sub and the connector to the amp), so if you ever want to go back to stock, you can just but a used stock sub woofer. The stock sub with a cheap-ish amp, was showing almost 90 db in the 20-40 hz range (most bass track hz range). There is almost zero response below 45 hz. The bass control does not adjust the sub and this car desperately needs more. I can't stress enough that the stock sound system just needs more bass. It says audio unavailable and you get the icon but it works normally. The speaker warning light went out on my car but it came back on when I used my remote start one day. Just check to see how loud the stock sub and if its way too low (like in the stelvio) then adding an amp should help. Its a shame they tuned the stock sub for looks only. The stock sub can def crank out the bass and had AR given us a subwoofer control, I think most people would be praising this system. My test of a good system is my desire to turn up the volume and I def want to crank it now. Its probably too much bass for most but even on my "normal" adult music (I like Band of Horses "casual party" and MGKs "bloody valentine" to test my stereos), it sounds like it should now. It also was not stressing over the mid bass to hit the lows. The HK sub was hitting the lowest bass tracks I (still) have. First up, the stock sub is sealed and it should be able to hit the highs and lows and it does! My teen years were spent building huge speaker boxes and blasting bass tracks. Intall was exactly like installing an underseat sub (thanks guys for the write ups!). So I took a chance and installed an old Pioneer Class D amp I had lying around. But while back there I noticed that the sub had almost no signal. I tried stuffing the sub with batting material (worked for my old VW golf sportwagen) but that yielded zero results. Was going to do an under seat sub but the two I tried in my old Lotus Exige, had way too much mid to high bass and it forced me to cross them over low and crank the levels. The bass setting has zero effect on the sub.what is AR thinking? The final straw came when my friend just bought a jeep gladiator and his system sounds so much better. I am running my treble at -6, mid at -4 and bass at zero and it just barely sounds acceptable. The stock HK system (in my 2018 quad anyways), just sucked.
